Broadband Phone)
Broadband Telephony
is the utilisation of
broadband connections to deliver voice calls. Typically,
services are hosted, meaning customers enjoy
traditional phone functionality without the need to
purchase a phone system at all. Calls are transmitted as
IP Packets to the host company, where they either 'break
out' to the public networks, or continue as IP calls across
the
Internet.
Due to the utilisation of
Voice over IP, calls can be delivered across the
internet for free in some circumstances.
Broadband Telephony is also known as Voice
over Broadband (VoBB), or more simply Broadband Phone.
